GM Considering 'Something Really Fun' for Buick

The assertion that GM is contemplating "something really fun" for its Buick Division gains credence now that the dramatic Riviera concept coupe has been introduced at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show.

China was no accidental setting for the concept coupe's debut. The Chinese just love Buick. In fact, in 2012, sales topped 700,000 there. Compare that to the 180,000 sold in America during the same period. The overall demographic is younger in the Asian market than in North America, so the creation of "something fun" with the Buick nameplate on it would undoubtedly continue the exploding demand for the brand in the world's most populous country.

Youth appeal is succeeding in the U.S. as well. Of the 38 automotive brands sold in the United States, only Buick has actually reduced the average age of its buyer. Three years ago the average was 62 years of age; today it is 59...

Buick Turns Pinterest Board Into Car Concept

Judging by the recent successes enjoyed by GM's Buick division, its designers have had no problem finding the creative inspiration needed to generate enthusiasm across expanding demographics. But, that has not stopped the creative team from looking in new directions as well. Now, Buick has demonstrated how to turn Pinterest boards into new concepts for the two-row crossover, the Buick Encore.

This popular new social media network has supplied tangible and useful ideas for both interior and exterior Encore designs.

Buick ran a "Pinterest to Dashboard" contest, and the results were just announced at the New York Auto Show. Nine successful and influential fashion, food, and design bloggers were approached to develop Pinterest boards evocative of their respective passions and personal styles.

The winner of the competition was Michael Wurm Jr., a bed-and-breakfast owner from Pennsylvania. Mr. Wurm has almost four million Pinterest devotees following him. His board featured beach scenes and sea foam-inspired tones. In turn, Buick designers used these pins as inspiration for brand-new textures, color palettes, and even designs for the Encore...

Shaq's New Commcerial Ad for Buick

A guy as big as former NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal couldn't possibly have just one nickname.

In Buick's latest ad, aptly named "Big," Shaq smoothly boasts of his 15 larger-than-life nicknames, ranging from Big Shamrock to Big Aristotle. And a 16th nickname make be in order: Big Smoocher. In this playful commercial for the car company's second-generation Buick LaCrosse, Shaq plants a big one on the forehead of a petite male valet...

Santa's Favorite Buick Model...

Santa and his sleigh are an image that has been depicted for children throughout the ages. Classic Christmas stories such as Clement C. Moore's Twas the Night Before Christmas to modern day Pixar films feature the big guy loading up the sleigh and the reindeer powering him through the night sky.

And yet no one ever asked the big guy if he was ready to trade in his ride. All those elves are kept...

2013 Buick Enclave Has Arrived!

Since its debut during the 2008 model year, the Buick Enclave has been at the forefront of the ascendancy of General Motors' (GM) Buick marque. And now, the 2013 edition of the full-size luxury crossover SUV is here--with enough updates to ensure its place as one of the best choices in the market.

The 2013 Buick Enclave is split into three models: Convenience, Leather and Premium. Each SUV is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 that generates 288 horsepower at 6,300 revolutions per minute (rpm) and 270 pound-feet at 3,400 rpm, which is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. A dual stainless-steel exhaust is integrated in the fascia. Customers have a choice between a front-wheel drive (FWD); and all-wheel drive (AWD), which enhances driving control over a variety of road surfaces. With the FWD, fuel economy is estimated at 17 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 24 mpg on the highway (17/24 mpg). With the AWD, it's 16/22 mpg. Standard towing capacity is estimated at 2,000 lbs, with the peak capacity of 4,500 lbs.

Grand National, T-Type and GNX Models Are Returning to Buick

Edmunds Inside Line is reporting that Buick is planning to revive the Grand National, the T-Type and the GNX models in the near future. These three models were popular in the 1980s.

The Grand National debuted in 1982 as an appearance package on the Buick Regal. It was named after NASCAR's Grand National Series. Buick was successful in the series in 1981 and 1982, winning the Manufacturer's Cup in both years. General Motors?

Buick Encore Gets Innovative All-Wheel Drive System

The latest model of the Buick Encore SUV will feature an innovative Active On-Demand all wheel drive system. The new system will send torque to the rear with every start. If there is not any slippage detected, the new system will return the Encore back to primarily front-wheel drive. The traditional system only sends force to the rear when it is a detected that the torque has slipped.

Buick's new AWD system first came to light when engineers were developing an AWD system for the luxury SUV model Buick Enclave. Due to the success of the AWD system on the Enclave, Buick made the decision to apply the system to the smaller Encore. Buick also decided to team up with Borg-Warner to produce a compact coupling system that is triggered by a magnetic charge, which allowed engineers to fit an all-wheel drive system into a compact front-wheel drive system.

The lighter weight of the Buick Encore allows the AWD system to react faster. In addition, the lighter weight makes it easier for the vehicle to control and transmit torque...

20 Things You Didn't Know About the Buick Verano

Everybody knows that the Buick Verano is the newest compact sedan from the respected American company. But there is so much more to learn. Here are twenty things that you did not know about the Verano.

2. Advanced security features...

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with the 2013 Buick Verano, and I must admit the interview took some interesting, unexpected turns. That being said, with the 2013 Buick Verano's new handling capabilities, those turns were pretty smooth. The interview is just below.
