Performance

The 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD delivers power with two very effective powerplants, the Duramax 6.6L Turbodiesel V8 engine that generates 397 hp and 765 lb-ft of peak torque, paired with a heavy-duty Allison 1000 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Sierra can also be equipped with the Vortec 6.0L VVT V6 engine that can deliver 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of peak torque, which is paired with the heavy-duty 6-speed electronically controlled transmission. Drivers can also select the optional 6.0L V8 SFI Gaseous Compressed Natural Gas engine in select areas.

Thanks to its superior power, the Sierra can deliver up to 18,000 pounds of trailering capacity and as much as 3,534 pounds of total payload.

The industry exclusive CornerStep rear bumper step makes it easy to get in and out of the truck bed, while features like the spray-in bed liner, and LED box lighting make unloading a snap, while eight tie down hooks, including four movable hooks ensure that no matter how awkward your load is, you’ll be able to secure it.

The Sierra is engineered to be tougher, and includes a long list of standard and available safety equipment, including:

• Rear Vision Camera – The optional rearview camera system not only makes backing and trailering your Sierra easier, it makes parking in tight spaces safer and more convenient.
• Driver Alerts – Driver alert technology uses sensors to monitor the area surrounding the vehicle. Available features like Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and the Driver Safety Alert make staying safe that much easier.
• Automatic Crash Response System (ACRS) – This system, when properly activated, has the power to use the Sierra’s GPS to deliver your location to emergency personnel should you be involved in a collision where the airbags deploy.
