200 Foster Kids Looking For a Brighter Christmas

It’s that time of the year again everyone! The holiday season is upon us and this year, we’re going to be sponsoring Choices Inc., out of Dayton, a foster care organization who is working to make the Christmas of around 200 area foster kids a little brighter.

For those who aren’t familiar, Choices is a foster care agency which works to create opportunities and make a difference in the lives of vulnerable youth and families in our community.

The holiday season can be especially difficult on the kids from Choices (about 200 total) as they?re away from their families, sometimes in a new foster home or have just move to a new school. Every year, with the help of supporter, Choices holds a special Christmas Party for foster youth. During the party, they provide the kids with dinner, carnival activities, presents and even a visit from Santa as well.

With that said, our goal is to help make this an awesome Christmas for their kids. We?re starting earlier than usual this year as the kid?s Christmas party is set for Friday, Dec. 13th.

What We’re Collecting:

Gift Certificates/Cards, Items off the “Wish List”, or monetary donations will be accepted as well.

Holiday Wish List Ideas

General Gift Ideas (up to $25)

– Gift Cards: iTunes, Kroger, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, any from local malls.
– Gloves, coats & hats – all sizes.
– Backpacks, luggage, laptop bags.
– Stationary, cards, envelopes, diaries and journals.
– Game systems, bikes, skateboards
– Candles, music CDs, mp3 players, DVD players, DVD movies (all ages)

Younger Youth

– Dolls, trucks, games, movies, music, CDs
– Lego sets, nerf guns, craft kits
– Toys for infants and toddlers
– Family and children’s games

Independent Living (former foster kids)

– Blankets, sheet sets, towels
– Gift cards, household/kitchen items
– Full-size toiletries and school supplies

Where to Drop Off Donations

There is no need to wrap any of the gifts. Donations may be dropped off at any building. All donations need to be in by Dec. 3, 2013.
