2013 Buick Regal Turbo Review The Regal represents a further effort by Buick to combine luxury and performance in a way that appeals to a younger, active demographic. The turbo-equipped Regals for 2013 are especially adept at performing at an appealing level. The Regal is a mid-size sedan that can be configured to offer considerably more sports appeal than Buick’s LaCrosse.

The 2013 Buick Regal comes standard with a 2.4 L engine. However, the sports performance enthusiast will look closely at the Turbo Premium 1, 2, and 3 trim levels. These all feature the turbocharged 2.0 L power plant capable of 220 hp. One step beyond the Regal Turbo Premium offerings is the GS, which features sport-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes, and a turbo engine tweaked to max out at 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.

Any Regal Turbo Premium benefits from the inclusion of many standard features. The Intellilink infortainment system includes Bluetooth pairing with Stitcher radio and Pandora as well. Smartphone integration is also possible. USB/iPod audio interface is included, along with an auxiliary jack.

Leather upholstery is standard and the front seats are heated. Even the front passenger gets a height-adjustable power seat. Foglights, automatic headlights, auto-dimming rear view mirror, and heated outside mirrors are all included as well.

A six-speed automatic transmission is standard, and a six-speed manual is optional. The highway EPA rating for the automatic is 29 mpg, and this number jumps to 32 mpg with the turbo/manual combo.

Turbo Regals come in three trim levels, and then there is the high-end GS that has its own high-power turbo engine.

Premium 1 — includes remote start, keyless ignition, and rear parking sensors. The driver gets treated particularly well with an eight-way power seat that also includes four-way lumbar support.

Premium 2 — adds in xenon headlights and a Harmon Kardon surround-sound audio system with nine speakers. Level 2 also includes rear seat side airbags.

Premium 3 — includes 19-inch alloys and adaptive suspension. A unique Interactive Drive Control offers three distinct levels of steering, suspension, and throttle response.

At the Premium 2 and 3 levels one can add sunroof and/or navigation system. Max out at the GS level and big 20-inch wheels with summer performance tires can be selected as an option.

The 2013 Regal Turbo Premium represents another step toward sports performance for the luxury Buick line. Mid-size sedan comfort, luxury appointments, and exhilarating turbo performance make for a stimulating combination.
