2014 Buick LaCrosse Receives the Esteemed 5-Star Rating for Safety
The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded the 2014 Buick LaCrosse with a 5-star rating. This is no small feat to attain as it is the highest possible score that a vehicle can be awarded.
The new and improved full-size sedan has been beefed up to very high standards in order to garner such a prestigious rating. With the aid of a camera and radar, the driver can prevent some of the most commonly occurring auto accidents due to blind spots in the rear mirrors. Other features built specifically for the safety of the driver and their passengers are a safety alert belt (vibrating seat alerts indicating potential crash situations), automatic collision preparation (application of brakes by the vehicle when it senses they should be used and have not been), forward collision alert (if the vehicle senses a potential collision, it will send out an alert), adaptive cruise control (senses when to slow the car down or come to a complete stop if heavy traffic is ahead), lane departure warning (lets the driver know if they are switching lanes without signaling), lane change alert (indicates if fast vehicles may be approaching in a different lane), side blind zone alert and rear cross traffic alert (indicates if there are any nearby vehicles while the car is in reverse).
If an accident does unfortunately occur, the vehicle has you covered with eight airbags, including the rear-set thorax bags which are specially designed to protect the very important and sensitive upper torso.
In order to keep the driver in better control of the vehicle at all times, Buick has loaded the LaCrosse with StabiliTrak electronic stability control, all-speed traction control, and four-wheel disc brakes with Intelligent Brake Assist on the four-channel anti-lock brake system.
The car is also equipped with OnStar, which comes complimentary for 6 months. This state-of-art GPS system uses the vehicle’s coordinates and cellular phone technology to automatically call for assistance in the event of a collision. This is especially crucial for serious accident where the driver and/or passengers are unable to call for help on their own.
Jeff Yanssens, chief engineer of the LaCrosse, had this to say when describing the newly designed car:
?Safety is one of the pillars of the Buick brand and our flagship continues to echo this essential element to our customers. Not only do we offer advanced safety technologies in the 2014 LaCrosse, but we designed and engineered the core of the car to perform well with respect to crash safety.?
With all of these key safety and protection features combined with the newest and best accident prevention techniques, the driver of a 2014 Buick LaCrosse will literally have to try to have an accident as it’s almost impossible.
