2014 GMC Sierra Regular Cab Revealed!
GMC has introduced the new 2014 GMC Sierra Regular Cab Pickup truck with a number of design changes that make this a truck you should consider for your next vehicle. And like the current GMC Sierra Regular Cab models, the 2014 Sierra will undoubtedly bring a smile to die-hard truck enthusiasts. Thus far, the pickup has gone through several aerodynamic tests to improve the vehicles fuel efficiency and performance.
GMC engineers initially had concerns about how the trucks tailgate affects aerodynamics. After many hours of testing in wind tunnels they discovered that the vehicle actually has better
A truck tailgate’s position — up or down — can affect the way air flows over the vehicle. This side-by-side photo shows air being disrupted with the tailgate down performance with the tailgate up, rather than down or with no tailgate at all. The flow of air over the top of the cab along with the push of air from behind the tailgate give the vehicle better gas mileage and power.
GMC has also focused their engineering efforts on other areas of the truck that effect air flow such as the undercarriage, the front grille and under the hood. They have redesigned the new Sierra Regular Cab with a new air dam to redirect the air away from the undercarriage as well as new ducting to keep air moving properly over the front of the truck. The new air dam and ducting help to reduce drag on the vehicle. New seals in the cavities of the truck cab also reduce the amount of air that swirls throughout the vehicle, causing it to slow it down and lose power.
GMC engineers have discovered other options that have been found to improve the aerodynamics of the truck. Airflow is improved by adding a Tonneau cover on the bed of the truck. Hard covers also help improve airflow, but the more flexible soft covers work best. By adding running boards to the side of the truck, the airflow can be improved even more. While tube style boards can help to increase airflow, flush-mounted running boards seem to work best.
GMC has also improved the Sierra Regular Cab with technology advancements like an All-Terrain package, Intelligent Control, a Rear-Vision Camera, an all new EcoTec3 5.3L engine and a whole lot more. The new 2014 GMC Sierra Regular Cab offers four model styles with three different engine sizes to choose from with an enhanced independent suspension system and a high-strength, fully boxed frame for greater durability.
The new GMC Sierra Regular Cab has a starting MSRP of $32,215 and there are a number of discounts and incentives available to help you make this your new truck.
