The redesigned 2014 GMC Sierra arrived in dealer showrooms during a banner month for the brand.

Retail sales saw a 17 percent increase, and its core products Acadia, Terrain and Sierra all posted gains.

These are the best June results GMC has had in seven years and continue a strong year for the truck maker. Retail sales are up 14 percent for the year, and the new Sierra’s arrival looks set to keep the momentum going.

June was a month when the good news kept on coming for GMC. The latest Initial Quality Study from J.D. Power and Associates saw GMC rated the best non premium brand after climbing 10 places in the standings. The study gave General Motors eight segment awards which topped all other manufacturers, and every General Motors brand bettered the industry average of 113 problems for every 100 new vehicles sold.

The emphasis on quality is paying off on the showroom floor for GMC. Both the Acadia and Terrain are having their best ever start to a year with Acadia retail sales up nine percent and Terrain posting a 14 percent year to date increase. June also saw Acadia sales reach a new high with 6,969 units sold.

However, attention at GMC dealers will now be squarely focused on the 2014 Sierra. The new model arrives in showrooms during a sales surge for the popular pickup. Sierra had seen year-over-year retail sales increases for six consecutive months before the redesigned truck arrived. Interest in the new Sierra combined with a clearance of 2013 models contributed to a 40 percent increase in ½ ton retail truck sales for the month, and many of the new truck’s buyers were returning Sierra owners.

GMC customers are very loyal to the brand which is due in large part to a pleasant buying experience. Combining dealer integrity with a top quality product is a formula which has been working well for GMC, and many returning owners think the new pickup is the best Sierra yet.

General Motors say that the all-new 4.3 liter EcoTec engine is the most capable standard V6 in any full size pickup, and up to 24 mpg is achieved with innovative aerodynamic improvements. The styling of the new Sierra is bold and purposeful, but every facet of the body, from the side view mirrors to the rear lights, has been subtly tweaked in a wind tunnel to improve the truck’s ride, handling and fuel economy. GMC says that 60 percent of Sierra owners use their pickups for towing, and the 2014 model leads its class in both towing ability and fuel economy while towing.
