2017 GMC Sierra 3500HD Review The 2017 GMC Sierra 3500HD is a robust pickup truck that’s engineered for heavy-duty tasks. Available with the Duramax diesel engine or Vortec gas engine, this GMC Truck delivers superb performance. In the technology department, the Sierra 3500HD also has plenty to brag about like the IntelliLink infotainment system, Wi-Fi and available Bose stereo system.
Capabilities
The GMC Sierra 3500HD is available with the all-new 6.6 L V8 Duramax engine. This turbocharged diesel engine generates up to 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. B20 biodiesel fuel can also power this monstrous eight-cylinder engine. The second powertrain option is the 6.0 L V8 Vortec gas engine, which has a maximum output of 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. The six-speed Allison transmission system is compatible with both engines. Some advanced features in this signature transmission include the Tow/Haul Mode and Auto Grade Braking. Speaking of towing, the GMC Sierra 3500HD has a maximum gooseneck/fifth-wheel trailering rating of 23,300 pounds. Additionally, this versatile pickup is strong enough to support a payload of just above 7,100 pounds.
Technology
Powered by the IntelliLink platform, an 8-inch infotainment system is installed in the GMC Sierra 3500HD. Colored maps and turn-by-turn directions are included in the vehicle’s GPS navigation software. SiriusXM Satellite Radio, HD Radio and Pandora Internet Radio are some premium entertainment channels that are accessible through the IntelliLink system. Featuring seven speakers including a subwoofer, the Bose audio system is optimized to play high-quality music on these popular radio stations. Powered by OnStar, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi network is also available in this GMC pickup truck. Dual 7-inch monitors with wireless infrared headphones provide additional entertainment for the rear passengers.
