2019 GMC Yukon Review

The GMC Yukon is a spacious SUV that offers luxury for the entire family and plenty of cargo room for all the essentials. Available in a wide variety of trims, GMC also offers the Yukon XL. It sports a wheelbase that’s 14 inches longer to maximize cabin room inside. For the 2019 model, GMC has given the new Yukon and Yukon XL a slight cosmetic facelift. It’s available in a few new colors and two distinct packages.

The first new package is dubbed the Graphite Edition. It’s available on the SLT configuration. One of the most noticeable additions to this package is the wheels. It sports large 22-inch machined wheels. They include Carbon Fiber Metallic pockets to add some attractive contrast. This new wheel option is complemented by a number of glossy black accents. The new finish is used on the assist steps, beltline moldings and much more. On the front of the SUV, a black chrome mesh insert is used on the grille. The same material also surrounds the fog lights to create an aggressive and attractive front end. A body-colored trim piece is used to surround the entire grille.

To complement the cosmetic upgrade, the Graphite Edition models also come with a Z85 suspension package. Specifically designed for towing, the suspension offers firm handling to help drivers maintain control on the road.

Another new upgrade available for the 2019 Yukon and Yukon XL is the Graphite Performance Edition. Also available for SLT configurations, this package beefs up the Yukon from under the hood. It includes a robust 6.2-liter V8 engine that’s capable of providing drivers with up to 420 horsepower and 460 pound-foot of torque. This is coupled with an automatic 10-speed transmission system that offers more versatility and control. Additional build features of this package include a trailer brake controller, 170-amp alternator, Magnetic ride control, and much more.

The upgrades continue inside the cabin. An 8-inch driver information system is built into the driver’s dash. It provides real-time performance metrics, speed data, and more. There’s also a heads-up display that splashes onto the windshield so that drivers can get important information without having to take their eyes off the road. Both of these systems work in tandem with the 8-inch GMC infotainment center. Additional perks include an active noise cancellation system from Bose to keep the cabin quiet and a high-capacity air cleaner to enhance air quality. This package also sports 22-inch black wheels with six spokes.

In addition to these two unique packages, GMC has added a few new exterior paint colors that can be applied on various trim levels of the new Yukon. These colors include Dark Sky Metallic, Smokey Quartz Metallic, and Pepperdust Metallic.

While the 2019 Yukon and XL aren’t redesigned from the wheels up, the new Graphite Edition package, Graphite Performance Edition package, and new exterior colors are all welcome upgrades.
