25 Years with No Convertible: Buick to Drop its Top Once Again

For the first time in a quarter century, Buick drivers will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel and enjoy the luxurious comfort of a convertible with the introduction of the 2016 Buick Cascada.

The brand’s latest globally developed vehicle goes on sale in early 2016, making it another integral component of its expanding portfolio.

The Convergence of Technology and Safety

With seating for four adults, the Buick Cascada is filled with state-of-the-art technological and safety facets that not only enhance the ride, but give it a sturdy presence that assures all inside that their protection is paramount. Coupling this with authentic stitching in the instrument panel, along with a heated steering wheel and front seats shows that Buick is on top of the situation.

If those heated seats are needed, the folding softtop can be used via the rear deck lid. This roof system is powered by electro-hydraulics and takes into account changing weather and noise factors through barriers of a thermal and acoustic nature. Finally, wing-shaped running lamps and taillights

Safety and technology coalesce with such highlights as electronic seat belts and rear-seat entry, a rearview camera and rear park assist. Also included is a color touch screen that can offer assistance for iPhones, with navigation systems and text messages and OnStar with built-in Wi-Fi.

Engine and Suspension

The Cascada’s engine is turbocharged at 1.6L and rated at 200 horsepower, and has a six-speed automatic transmission, which offers a powerful torque that can come in handy. That power stems from the HiPer Strut suspension system in the front, along with the light Watts Z-link design in the back.

The HiPer Strut affords a much smoother ride with its enhanced impact isolation for any rough surface or bump.

Plenty of Space

The nimble aspect of the latter feature not only emphasizes efficiency but affords more cargo room thanks to its smaller build. With the top up, there’s 13.4 cubic feet of cargo space, but if the top needs to be down, there’s still 9.8 cubic feet available. In addition, by folding down electronically, the rear seatbacks can help expand cargo if longer items are required.

Rolling along on 20-inch wheels, the Buick Cascada’s steering system is electrically-powered and rack mounted, which helps save on fuel costs.
