August Marks Buick’s Best Sales Month of 2014 Thus Far
Buick had a great July, but August was even better for total U.S. sales. The nation’s hottest month become the hottest for Buick’s sales as well. With both July and August figures trending upward, the Buick brand is well-positioned for 2014.
Buick has seen its overall sales improve by four percent on the retail level and by 8 percent overall. This means that the brand is outpacing the rest of the industry in average growth rate. Leading the sales, the Buick Regal, Buick Encore and Buick Enclave. Each one saw a marked increase in August sales in a year-over-year comparison.
Duncan Aldred, US Vice President for Buick, pointed to ‘the strong growth’ of Regal and Encore as evidence that the entire Buick portfolio is making a strong impression on today’s buyers.
Leading the pack, the Regal has been totally redesigned, and consumers clearly have responded by test driving and buying the car. Regal sales for this August are an amazing 35 percent higher than this time last year. It is the best August sales figure since 2012. In fact, this is the 11th straight month that Regals have outsold previous year-over-year records. Considered a leader in the midsized luxury category, the Regal has been praised by Kelley Blue Book for combining ‘sophisticated styling’ with ‘surprising agility’. It’s also earned praise from Cars.com and The Car Connection. Demonstrating that its more than a pretty face, the Regal earned five stars in federal safety testing.
August also saw another solid increase for the Buick Encore crossover. Compared to last August, the Encore increased it sales this August by a remarkable 11 percent. It was the Encore’s second-best month so far this year. In July, sales jumped by a record 28 percent over the same time last year. Ranked Number 2 in its class by U.S. News and World Report, Encore has been pulling consumers away from rival brands. Kelley Blue Book says the Encore has a level of “luxury and sophistication” that is “uncommon in its class.”
The Buick Enclave crossover also sold at a rapid clip with the best August sales figures in six years. Retail sales rose by seven percent when compared to August 2013. In May, the 2014 Enclave was named the Number One Affordable Midsized SUV by U.S. News and World Report. U.S. News compiles reviews from all major automotive sites to determine its final rankings. The three-row Enclave, which seats eight, beat out 22 other SUVs to win this important award.
