Buick Encore Goes on Sale Early Next Year

Buick’s success in recent years with the large crossover, the Enclave, meant it was only a matter of time until a two row crossover would be introduced. The Buick Encore is a great choice for those who prefer the elegance and look of a Buick but don’t need the capacity of an Enclave.

As is the case with current Buick models in general, even a ‘base’ Encore is loaded with features. GM’s Intellilink system is standard, which includes both Bluetooth and iPod connectivity. The image produced by the rear view camera is displayed on a large 7 inch Color LCD screen. Buick is continuing its commitment to safety with a total of ten airbags, forward collision alerts, land departure warnings and OnStar.

The 2013 Encore offers an extremely quiet ride. This is due in part to an innovation called ‘active noise cancellation.’ Noise patterns are countered through audio patterns broadcast through the Encore’s speaker system. Sound deadening materials throughout the vehicle as well as the use of an acoustically absorbent headliner also enhance the quiet ride of the 2013 Encore.

Under the hood is the latest solution to mating acceleration and fuel economy. The use of a 140 hp turbocharged four cylinder engine provides power when needed and impressive fuel economy on the highway – 33 mpg with a front wheel drive Encore. The use of advanced lightweight steel reduces the Encore’s weight, further enhancing both performance and fuel economy. The base price of the Encore is $24,950. The $1,500 optional all wheel drive will reduce fuel economy by only a mile or two per gallon. Enjoy the versatility of a crossover and the gas mileage of a sedan. The six-speed automatic transmission offers smooth acceleration.

The already well-appointed Encore can be further enhanced by the addition of the Convenience Group, which includes a 120v power outlet, remote start, fog lamps, dual-zone climate control, and auto-dimming rear view mirror. Encores with the convenience group start at $25,760.

The Leather Group adds leather appointed seats, heated front row seats, driver’s seat memory, power passenger seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. With the Leather Group the Encore is priced from $27,460.

Finally, the Premium Group features a variety of advanced sensor and electronic systems, including front and rear park assist, lane departure warning system, and a forward collision alert system. It also includes Bose premium audio with seven speakers and sub-woofer. A cargo net, cargo mat, and rain-sensing wipers are also included, for an MSRP of $28,940.

When compared to one of its primary rivals, the Ford Escape, the Buick Encore combines a quiet cabin, best-in-class gas mileage, and Buick styling for a slightly higher MSRP.
