VeranoWhenever an auto manufacturer releases a new model, it’s a big deal. However, the release of the Buick Verano in Guangzhou, China was to many a bigger deal than most. Not only is this hatchback a newer model of the United States version, but it also has many perks that drivers in China may find hard to resist. For example, two versions will be offered to Chinese drivers, allowing them a choice depending upon their finances and driving preferences. The basic model, with a 1.5 liter four-cylinder engine, offers a six-speed dual-clutch transmission along with 117 horsepower. However, the sporty version provides 166 horsepower and a seven-speed transmission. For those who like to get going as fast as possible, the sporty version can achieve 62 miles per hour in only 8.8 seconds, making it the choice of those drivers possessing a need for speed.

No matter which version of the Verano drivers choose, the good news is that both are very reasonably priced. Ranging from 145,900-205,900 RMB, the Verano is expected to be in high demand among Buick’s 740 Chinese dealerships for many reasons. Perhaps the biggest of these reasons is the huge decrease in the purchase tax for fuel-efficient cars provided by the Chinese government. Because the Verano has an engine smaller than 1.6 liters, it qualifies for a 50 percent reduction in the purchase tax. This, combined with the already lower purchase price and numerous features of the vehicle, makes the Verano a vehicle Buick is relying on to increase its presence in the country’s mid-range passenger car market.

And speaking of features, the Verano is loaded with plenty of them for drivers to use while on the road. One of the most anticipated is the Apple CarPlay system, which brings personal electronics technology to an entirely new level. With this feature, drivers can easily connect their iPhones to Buick’s IntelliLink infotainment system, allowing drivers to access all available iPhone features as well as apps on a large 8-inch screen located on the center console. Also included on the Verano is plenty of advanced technology to keep drivers safe while on the road. These features include Collision Mitigating Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Automatic Parking Assist. With many of China’s highways being extremely crowded with vehicles, these features are expected to play a key role in lowering the accident rate while also making the driving experience much more pleasant.

In the coming months, Buick dealerships in expect the Verano to be one of the most popular cars on the road. With its numerous features as well as sleek styling and handling, that’s one assumption that can be counted on to be correct.
