Buick’s Iconic NCAA Moments: Lending a Helping Hand…

For players, coaches, and fans, March Madness means great games, exciting upsets, and unforgettable moments that are etched into college basketball history. For Buick, March Madness in 2013 is another opportunity to allow fans to relive those iconic moments and to team up with the Samaritan’s Feet charity to distribute shoes to needy children.

Samaritan’s Feet

For the third consecutive year, Buick and Samaritan’s Feet are assisting each other in an effort to distribute 7,500 pairs of shoes to children in and around this year’s Final Four site, Atlanta, Georgia.Buick, the NCAA, and Samaritan’s Feet, an offical charity of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), are attempting to donate 75,000 pairs of shoes during 2013.

Buick jumped out to an early start this March at the Atlanta Auto Show by hosting a ride and drive campaign featuring the 2013 luxury small crossover Encore and the revamped Enclave luxury crossover. Each time a visitor to the show jumped in to a new Buick for a test drive, Buick donated a pair of shoes to a child with the help of Samaritan’s Feet.

Buick Human Highlight Reel

Buick profiles former NCAA student-athletes, including Samaritan’s Feet founder Manny Ohonme, serving their fellow citizens in various ways through its online series of short videos known as the Buick Human Highlight Reel.

This spring the Buick Highlight Reel includes the story of the Miami Project, the world-class spinal cord research center founded by former professional football player Nick Buoniconti and his son, Marc, who was paralzyed while playing college football for The Citadel. Encore Performances

Buick is celebrating the 75th NCAA basketball tournament and the 2013 Buick Encore by giving fans a chance to help donate shoes to Samaritan’s Feet. Visitors to the Buick Arena at Bracket Town at the Ultimate Final Four Fest at Atlanta’s Georgia Dome from April 4-8 can take a look at “Encore Performances.” Fans will watch footage of the most memorable buzzer-beating shots in NCAA tournament history, be recorded attempting to re-create a magical NCAA moment, and get a side-by-side look at the two video clips. A shoe donation will go to Samaritan’s Feet for every successful shot.

After reliving and replicating these iconic NCAA moments, fans can preview the 2014 Buick LaCrosse luxury sedan inside Bracket Town. It will be the first time the LaCrosse will be on display following its introduction at the New York Auto Show.

Fans can also take advantage of Buick’s free shuttle service between downtown Atlanta and the Georgia Dome during Final Four weekend.
