Compact Yet Complete: Used 2012 Chevy Cruze Review

The world of compact sedans is one that offers a vast number of possibilities. As the craze for this type of vehicle has caught on, car manufactures have been refining their styling and packing the features into a space that is economical in very surprising ways. GM has been a significant contributor to this ideal range of cars, but they put their best foot forward in a way that they have not done in a long time with the Chevy Cruze.

The name rolls off the tongue in the same way that the aerodynamic exterior is easy on the eyes. Though it may be minimalistic in the eyes of some, many drivers seem to agree that it has been boiled down to its most positive essences. The Cruze starts things off by offering wonderful fuel economy. Like all other cars in its class, reducing the amount of gas needed to get from A to B is part of its leap forward. The deal for consumers is also sweetened by expanding the list of features that come standard. The LT is particularly enchanting in this dimension.

Space is handled well from the trunk to the steering column. Four good-sized adults will still feel as if they have plenty of personal space. GM felt that space balanced with performance was an excellent front on which to position its attack on some its major competitors, including the Corolla, Civics, and the Elantra. The Cruze packs enough power under the hood to satisfy the average driver. Individuals have the choice between a four-cylinder engine with 1.8-liters or an engine that has a 1.4-liter capacity. Either choice can be revved up with a turbocharger. This front-wheel drive vehicle differentiates itself from others in its class by offering the choice of either a manual or automatic transmission.

Although there are slight variations between the manual and automatic transmission when it comes to fuel economy, there is nothing out of the ordinary or too crazy. Drivers can expect to get roughly 35 to 40 mpg on the highway and about 25 in the city. However, the Eco edition of this car will allow drivers to increase their efficiency to nearly 45 mpg on the highway.

Chevy has approached the idea of luxury by offering a quiet ride which is unbelievably smooth. The real impressive aspect of this accomplishment is that they have achieved this while allowing the car to retain its agile and responsive feel. The steering is electrically powered rather than being dependent on the engine compression in order to save on fuel consumption. Families that are getting behind the wheel of the Cruze can also have confidence in their safety.

The list of safety features for the Cruze is unique and exhaustive. A total of 10 airbags, Roll-Over Deployment, the OnStar Telematics System, and an included six-month subscription to automatic accident response just begins to scratch the surface of some of the great features the Chevy Cruze comes with.
