GM Moves to Ease Shortage of “Red Hot” Encores.
GM Ships more Buick Encores to the Relief of Dealerships Nationwide
GM’s initial sales estimates for the Encore were lower than the reality for it’s new fuel efficient SUV, an enviable problem for any auto maker. With sales all over the country surpassing initial estimates, GM has recently begun to ship an increased volume of 2013 Buick Encores to dealers in hopes of pushing far past expected sales numbers. Encore in Demand by Thrifty Suburban Drivers
The Encore is a small crossover, and early reviews among car buyers suggest that it’s combination of fuel economy, seating capacity and luxury options are driving its sales. More and more auto owners are looking for a car with decent fuel economy that will still comfortably seat four or five people as well as their gear. The Encore has positioned itself against competitors like the Honda CR-V and Toyota Rav4, relying on the build quality and excellent fuel economy to give it an edge over the vehicles in its category. So far, that seems to be the case. Those who need a comfortable ride with great gas mileage and luxury interior are increasingly choosing the Encore. It seems that this demographic is speaking with their wallets. Despite being a luxury vehicle, US News has listed the Encore as the sixth most affordable compact SUV, no small feat given the quality materials and luxury interior that come standard in the Encore. Customers seem to agree, as the 2013 Encore has sold 15,428 units through July.
Early Praise from Customers and ReviewersAlong with great fuel economy, critics have praised the Encore’s small turning radius, making it an excellent vehicle for city driving and parking in tight spaces. Others have lauded the comfortable and quiet ride that the Encore delivers. Combine that with the many standard features that come in a vehicle of this quality, and it’s not wonder that the Encore’s initial reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. Each 2013 Encore comes standard with a backup camera and Buick’s IntelliLink infotainment system. This system includes a 7-inch display, satellite radio, Bluetooth and a USB port. With heavy praise from the industry and increased sales through the first half of the year, GM is hoping to get the Encore onto more dealers’ showroom floors and lots as soon as possible. If the January to July numbers continue through to the end of the year, expect the 2013 Buick Encore to surpass GM’s own predictions and become one of their best selling vehicles this year.
