GMCSUVsfeatureThe SUV initially arose to address a demand by families who wanted something other than a minivan to handle their busy lifestyles. Sport utility vehicles and crossovers, which are car-like vehicles with SUV attributes, now take on weekend camping trips, soccer practice, and endless other events. GMC has also provided much of this market segment’s energy, giving families a perfect mix of fun, well-equipped vehicles.

SUV and Crossover Popularity

According to IHS Automotive, an auto industry analysis firm, 2014 finally saw SUVs and crossovers overtake sedans to become the most popular vehicle body style. A July 2014 article posted by The Atlantic magazine describes how crossovers have come to “conquer the American highway,” even. GMC has played no small part in that signal achievement with its SUV and crossover lineup.

Room for Life, No Matter How Full

Whether it’s a compact Terrain crossover, a midsize Acadia SUV or a full-size Yukon SUV, GMC engineers have designed a vehicle with plenty of room for cargo and passengers.

Terrain, for example, can hold up to five passengers and their luggage. Cargo room is also generous, especially with the rear seat folded down.

GMC’s Acadia, a perennial midsize SUV favorite, combines smart styling with room for seven to eight people across three rows. Cavernous cargo room is also on tap with a few simple seating adjustments.

The full-size Yukon is one of the automotive industry’s most popular vehicles, seats up to eight and can tow impressive amounts when ideally equipped.

Connectivity, Technology, Safety

GMC’s available IntelliLink infotainment system helps families stay connected, providing OnStar for both safety and communication. Depending on the model and equipment level, the maker’s crossovers and SUVs are also mobile Wi-Fi hotspots, providing secure networks for laptops, tablets, and smartphones.

GMC uses high-data-capacity 4G LTE to power its in-vehicle Wi-Fi networks, which can accommodate up to seven devices. Having the capability for kids to access the Internet to complete homework, for example, directly appeals to families shuttling young ones around. Text messaging and message alerts are another attractive feature while Siri Eyes Free, powered by Apple, provides connection to the outside world without distracting from the road.

Now is the Time

GMC has for decades been an industry leader in both innovation and engineering as well as value. The company has identified a growing need for fuel-efficient vehicles, as well, and even offers hybrid versions of its most popular models. Now may just be the best time ever to test drive a Terrain, Acadia or Yukon at your local GMC dealership.
