GMC Has Big Month in October! GMC has reported a 12 percent rise in retail sales to 33,113 units and an overall 16 percent increase in sales to 38,841 units for the month of October. Over the year, the company’s retail sales have jumped 13 percent and total sales have rose 9.5 percent compared to 2012.

Recently honored with 2014 Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy, 8,947 retail units of the 2014 GMC Sierra were sold in October. This is a 46 percent increase on the previous month. On top of that, the truck sold for higher average prices compared to the same month last year. There are currently three cab configurations available to consumers, and the Sierra Denali will be available sometime in November.

Carl Black Buick/GMC of Kennesaw, Ga., President Mike Bowsher says that customers are impressed with the quietness and smooth ride after driving the 2014 Sierra. They are getting the full package and are willing to pay for its capabilities and quality. His store has experienced a high demand from customers who want a Sierra Denali as well.

The Sierra was not the only GMC vehicle to have retail and overall sales gains in October. The Acadia reported a 19 percent increase among retail sales and a 23 percent jump in total sales. With its best sales month behind it now, the midsize crossover SUV is aiming for its best year of sales ever. The Terrain is still appealing to new customers with its strong fuel economy and ideal size. The small crossover SUV posted retail sales gains of 11 percent and a total sales increase of 9 percent.

GMC, however, was not the only General Motors Co. brand to report strong October sales gains. The corporation sold a total 226,402 vehicles during the month, which is a 16 percent jump on the same month last year. Retail sales rose 16 percent to 177,702 units. While GMC had a total 16 percent gain in sales, Buick led the way with a 31 percent increase. Following GMC, Chevrolet posted a 15 percent sales rise, and Cadillac reported a 9.5 percent increase. For the year, GM has sold over 2.3 million vehicles, an 8 percent gain on U.S. total sales compared to the same period in 2012.

GM U.S. Sales Operations Vice President Kurt McNeil says that all four of the corporation?s brands performed well in October, and the sales really picked up when the government shutdown came to an end. The company is very pleased with the momentum of truck sales. GMC and Chevrolet have the best and newest light duty trucks, and sales are speeding up. GM is preparing for the second, third and fourth stages of its strategic truck scheme.
