How to Get the Most Out of Your Trade

April 4th, 2023 by

If you’re planning on selling or trading in your car, it’s important to prepare it so that you can get the best possible value for it. Here are some tips to help you get your vehicle ready for trade-in:

  1. Clean the car: This may seem obvious, but it’s important to make sure that your car is clean both inside and outside. This will make it look more attractive to potential buyers and increase its value. Vacuum the carpets and seats, clean the windows, wash the exterior, and polish any chrome or metal surfaces. Remove brake dust and debris from rims.
  2. Fix any minor issues: If your car has any minor issues like a broken taillight, squeaky brakes, or a cracked windshield, it’s a good idea to get them fixed before you trade it in. Small things like new windshield wipers and checking all fluids will make a huge difference in trade value. If the vehicle has been sitting for a while, it’s a great idea to take it for a drive to clear dust off the brakes and get all those fluids moving through the engine. While these issues may not seem like a big deal to you, they can decrease the value of your car and make it less appealing to buyers.
  3. Get the paperwork ready: Make sure that you have all the necessary paperwork ready for the trade-in process. This includes the car’s title, registration, and any maintenance records. You should also make sure that you have a copy of your insurance policy, as the dealership may ask to see it.
  4. Remove personal items: Before you trade in your car, make sure to remove all personal items from the interior. This includes things like sunglasses, phone chargers, and personal documents.
