When you pop the hood of a Ford Escape, you’ll find a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that is capable of generating 168 hp. A 6-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift® capability and front-wheel drive are standard, while all-wheel drive is optional on higher trims. The Escape earns an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city/29 mpg highway.

The base engine on a Ford Edge is a twin-scroll EcoBoost® 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder, capable of generating 250 hp. An 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard, with all-wheel drive available as an upgrade. The EPA-estimated fuel economy of the Edge is just a smidge better than the Escape, coming in at 22 mpg city/29 mpg highway.
