Truck lovers waiting for the 2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD redesign won’t have to wait long, as rumors and speculation are already happening among our Troy and Dayton drivers. The Sierra 2500HD should arrive soon at Dave Arbogast Buick GMC, and we have some thoughts on what you can expect from the new truck to tide you over until we can put you behind the wheel for a test drive. We don’t expect too many changes from the popular and powerful 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD, but we think the updates will make for a more stylish, slightly better equipped pickup truck.
Since we are still waiting on the official word from General Motors, we have our truck experts speculating on what could be next, but rest assured that once we have confirmation on specific updates, it will be reflected here on our page for the 2017 model.
It will be a bit before we have concrete details on the features as well as the 2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD release date and price, but we have some ideas about the upgrades we think are coming with the new model year.
Updates to the Sierra 2500HD could include
New exterior color options to differentiate itself from the 2016 model
Upgraded grille and bumper to help give the truck an even more rugged, capable look
All-black interior design for a refined appearance inside and out
Industry experts are predicting an updated engine as well – a 6.7L Duramax V8 turbodiesel with as much as 420 hp
These updates to the pickup could change, as they are based just on what we have heard about the new truck, so be sure to check in with one of our team members for more details. We expect many features to carry over from the 2016 model as well.
It’s tough to balance updates that drivers could want with the features and amenities they already love; the last thing you want to do is take away something that makes a truck a success. So while we think the 2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD changes will bring some exciting upgrades, we also expect quite a bit about the 2016 model to carry over, including:
Performance: The new engine we mentioned above looks to be an upgrade of the 6.6L turbodiesel currently available (397 hp and 765 lb.-ft. of torque). Drivers can also choose a Vortec 6.0L V6 with 360 hp and 380 lb.-ft. of torque.
Towing Capacity: When equipped to tow, this Sierra can handle a trailer of up to 18,000 pounds; it also has a payload capacity of 3,534 pounds.
Advanced Features: Drivers seeking a well-equipped pickup have found it, with advanced tech features, superior audio options, OnStar connectivity, and a variety of luxury upgrades.
