GMC offers the 2017 Terrain in five dynamic trim levels:
- 2017 GMC Terrain SL (FWD only) – Starting at $24,070 MSRP
- 2017 GMC Terrain SLE-1 – Starting at $27,300 MSRP
- 2017 GMC Terrain SLE-2 – Starting at $28,800 MSRP
- 2017 GMC Terrain SLT – Starting at $30,920 MSRP
- 2017 GMC Terrain Denali – Starting at $34,275 MSRP
With the exception of the SL trim, the Terrain is available as a FWD or AWD crossover.

Exterior

The 2017 GMC Terrain exterior offers families attractive features like the one-touch power sunroof with tilt feature, heated exterior mirrors with power adjustability, projector-beam headlamps with optional LED daytime running lights, and—of course—the aggressive stance and flared fenders that give the Terrain its bold unique style.
The available one-touch power liftgate with programmable open height and obstacle detection and convenient roof rails make it easy for drivers to access and load cargo of all shapes and sizes, making it easy to get away and take your stuff with you.

Performance

The 2017 GMC Terrain can be powered by one of two impressive engines depending on driver needs:
- 2.4-Cylinder – Drivers can select a 2.4L inline 4-cylinder engine for 182 hp and 172 lb.-ft. of torque, which returned 21 mpg/city and 31 mpg/highway fuel efficiency in recent EPA testing for excellent fuel economy.
- 3.6-Cylinder – For drivers who crave more power, GMC offers the 3.6L V6 engine that generates 301 hp and 272 lb.-ft. of torque. Well-equipped, this engine delivered 3,500 pounds of conventional trailering.
Regardless of engine chosen the GMC Terrain is equipped with the 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.

Interior Design and Features

GMC vehicles have a reputation for bringing drivers superior interior design, comfortable seating, and advanced features they want, and the Terrain is no exception:
- Premium Amenities – Optional leather-appointed heated front seats, remote start, remote entry, convenient automatic climate control, power windows and doors, and the available Pioneer premium audio system make the daily drive something to look forward to.
- Open Seating – The convenient MultiFlex 60/40 split folding rear seats can slide up and back up to 8 inches to increase rear legroom to 39.9 inches, or be laid flat to provide as much as 63.9 cubic feet of cargo volume for plenty of room for gear or groceries.
- Advanced Technology – Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free operation of a compatible smartphone is standard, while options like IntelliLink, 4G LTE Wi-Fi, Navigation, satellite radio, voice recognition, and more features can be added to enhance the infotainment offerings.

Advanced Safety Technologies

The Terrain has the solid design and advanced features to keep cabin occupants safe and help to avoid accidents:
- Stability Control – StabiliTrak stability control with traction control are standard features designed to provide better purchase on slick roads. Automatic Grade Braking and Hill Start Brake Assist are also included to help drivers better control the vehicle during emergency stops.
- Optional Sensors – A rear vision camera is standard and displays the area behind the vehicle on the touchscreen interface to help drivers easily avoid obstacles. Other features, like Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Park Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Forward Collision Alert help provide another measure of safety on crowded streets.
- Passenger Protection – Advanced airbag systems including front airbags with passenger sensing system help to protect cabin occupants in the event of a crash. If deployed, a properly equipped OnStar system can notify emergency services, providing the vehicle’s location even if the driver is incapacitated.
