Used Car Review: 2012 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LT
The 2012 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LT has not been afraid to take a stand against the compact-car craze that has gripped the nation. It is the widest and longest vehicle geared towards the concerns of sports utility fans on the market today. It outstretches the Tahoe by a full 20 inches. People that still need huge amount of covered space built into their powerful vehicles need not live in fear.
The added dimensions give the Suburban the room its needs for a third row of seating. The 2012 models have also widened the rear doors to make access to the cargo space easier than it has been in the past. Chevy released this model with the hopes of giving customers the same capacity for hauling as the 2500 with the added bonus of better gas mileage and a smoother ride. The 1500 LT does these things well despite the fact that it is somewhat limited in its maneuverability. For a vehicle in its class, this Suburban displays excellent handling.
Providing all this power is GM’s 320-horsepower engine that relies on a six-speed automatic transmission. The 5.3-Liter, V-8 will allow drivers to get 21 mpg with a hauling capacity of 8,100 pounds. To add to the potential of the vehicle, Chevy makes this model available in both four-wheel drive and rear, two-wheel drive. The power is balanced with efficiency through a few small technological marvels. The engine is designed to be fuel-flex capable, and the fuel is regulated based on the need for power. When the full strength of the beast is not needed, the cylinder deactivation device ceases fuel delivery to four of the cylinders.
Buyers can really go big on the inside, taking advantage of its 137 cubic feet of cargo space. The second row seating can be outfitted as either bucket seats or straight-line benches. The third row folds down to optimize the storage capacity. While the third row will not fold into a completely flat position, the seats can be completely removed. When everything is said and done, the 1500 LT can generously seat up to nine people. In going big, Chevy also goes heavy on the interior luxury. Buyers have the option of enjoying rear-seat DVDs, heated seating in the first and second row, bluetooth connectivity, and the Autoride electronic suspension. The exterior enjoys the same kind of pampering. It features 22-inch wheels, a towing package, and luggage racks.
