The color of a car is very important to drivers today. Around 60 percent of people who were purchasing cars stated that a large factor in deciding which vehicle to buy is color. Designers are well aware of this fact. Designers within Buick are always looking for new ways to develop colors that are subtle, appealing and that invoke some type of response.

Buick designers have turned to an unlikely source for the newest color and trim ideas. They are starting to look at the colors of food. This is not surprising considering everyone loves food. Recent trends and the Internet have even made many people incredibly passionate food in ways that were not seen before. It is now common to see people going on social media sites and posting pictures of all types of meals.

The latest cars from Buick have some of these culinary inspired colors available. The Buick Enclave coming out in 2016 has the option for Choccachino color and trim that closely resembles the warm earthy tones of chocolate and coffee. The convertible Cascada can be purchased in 2016 in Toasted Coconut Metallic. Even the latest concept car, known as the Avenir, appeared at a recent auto show sporting a color called Crystalline that was the result of looking as asparagus.

The designers are doing more than just copying the exact colors you find on fruits and prepared dishes. They are converting those colors into something that would look good on a Buick. The initial color might spark the interest of a designer. That color will then be desaturated and manipulated to give it the properties that would make it look attractive on the sleek lines of a Buick with a gloss coating over top. Some of the new food-inspired colors even contain metallic flakes to achieve the final look. The resulting colors are not exactly the same as the food although you can see the influence.

Part of the reason that Buick has turned to the world of food for color choices is psychology. Colors have psychological meaning to human beings either instinctively or as a result of past experiences. Someone who has a strong positive emotional connection to a particular food might find the color on a Buick incredibly appealing. This connection to food and color can potentially create a stronger bond between car buyers and the vehicle itself. It is also possible that the new colors will allow drivers to find cars that better fit individual tastes.

The culinary-based colors are going to be available for many 2016 model year cars from Buick. The design teams have actually been working on these colors for years. There is no telling how many new food-based colors might appear on Buick vehicles in the future.
