GMC Canyon Denali Coming 2017
Introduced at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2017 GMC Canyon Denali is the first midsize pickup truck to be equipped with a luxury package. Consequently, buyers who prefer a premium-grade truck will not be limited to a single size when upgrading to the Denali trim. When viewed from the front, the vehicle stands out due to the chrome grill that is exclusive to Denali models. Walk around to the side and the 20-inch aluminum wheels and chrome assist steps are equally eye-catching. Chrome door handles provide the finishing touch. From the back, the polished exhaust tip and three-dimensional Denali emblem that is located on the front wall of the cargo box sends the message that this is no ordinary vehicle. The interior of the 2017 Canyon Denali is equipped with black perforated leather seating. The front seats provide top-of-the-line comfort to driver and passenger because they are both heated and ventilated. The head rests are accented by the Denali logo. These seats along with a heated steering wheel are standard equipment.
From a functional standpoint, the Canyon Denali’s interior contains an eight-inch color touch screen, which is part of the navigation system, also standard. The infotainment system allows for music selection as well as hands-free calling. The seven-speaker Bose audio package ensures concert hall type sound quality. The vehicle is also equipped with a Wi-Fi system that can provide connectivity for up to seven devices. The available OnStar system provides diagnostics as well as the ability to lock or start the truck remotely through a smart phone app. Safety is enhanced through the lane departure and forward collision alert systems.
The 2017 Canyon Denali is available as a crew cab with the choice of two- or four-wheel drive. It is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that produces 305 horsepower. As an option, a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine is available that produces 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. With either choice, the two-wheel drive models can tow up to 7,000 pounds. The towing capacity only drops by 100 pounds on the four-wheel drive models. The drivetrain includes a six-speed automatic transmission. As far as fuel economy is concerned, the Duramax diesel engine enables the two-wheel drive vehicle to get an estimated 31 mpg highway, making it the first truck to hit the 30-mpg mark. When the four-wheel drive option is chosen, the EPA estimated fuel economy drops to 29 mpg, still very respectable. The 2017 GMC Canyon Denali is expected to arrive sometime in late 2016.
