There’s now more to love about the 2017 GMC Canyon

GMC recently announced additions to its popular Canyon lineup, including the new range-topping Canyon Denali and the off-road inspired All Terrain X. The expansion is due to the 18 percent sales increase that the Canyon lineup has enjoyed so far this year, according to GMC officials.

Like all GMC Denalis, the Canyon sports chrome exterior details, unique 20-inch ultra-bright machine aluminum wheels and a trademark interior trim and content, including a new Intelliink radio with a 7-inch diagonal color touchscreen, a standard teen driver mode powered by Intellilink and an optional heated steering wheel.

With a new, 3.6L V-8 engine that is coupled with a segment-first eight-speed automatic transmission, the Canyon is available in a variety of exterior colors, including dark slate metallic, mineral metallic and red quartz metallic. Tubular chrome assist steps, a polished exhaust tip (available on the V-6 only) and spray-in bed liner complete the Canyon’s look.

On the inside, the Canyon’s jet back interior features leather-appointed, heated and ventilated front seats, a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, automatic climate control, remote start, two USB charging ports and forward collision alert and lane departure warning.

If exiting the paved highway is more your style, the Denali All-Terrain X is the most off-road capable Canyon to date. Outfitted with all-terrain tires, all-weather floor liners, off-road suspension and transfer case shield the All-Terrain X also sports a body-color grille surround and rear-step bumper in addition to 3-inch diameter round step bars and unique 17-inch aluminum wheels.

The All-Terrain X also features a remote start capability, automatic climate control, a sliding rear window and a unique interior with red stitching and heated front seats. For addes safety, the All-Terrain X has hill descent control and a higher first gear ratio that reduces engine spin on the highway.

Powered by the new 3.6l V-6/eight-speed automatic propulsion system (a 2.8L Duramax turbo-diesel engine is also available), the All-Terrain X has a stronger and smooth shift performance than previous models, making for smooth accelerations when passing others by on the highway or even when you are traveling at a constant speed.

Making use of such innovative technologies as varialbe valve timing, direct injection and cylinder deactivation, the All-Terrain X balances both driving performance and fuel efficiency. It has a SAE certified 308 horsepower (230 kW) rating and 275 pounds per foot of torque capability.
